Check It Out: Breitbaren’ts Are Attacking Conservatives Again

Description

Here’s yet another example of what’s going on in Breitbaren’t land.

What is a Breitbaren’t? A Breitbaren’t is someone who pretends to be Andrew Breitbart, or invokes his name to justify their attacks on anyone they disagree with, or claims to be his best friend when they didn’t know Andrew that long. We’ve seen a lot of that lately from a certain group of people. We’ve addressed this behavior previously.

Last week, Mark Scudder, an independent musician, was having a Twitter discussion with @katearthsis about visibility, or lack thereof, when it comes to conservative artists. So, Mark is supposed to read this conservative book, watch that conservative pundit on TV, or retweet some conservative’s blog post, but he can’t point out the double-standard when it comes to him being a conservative artist, or people will accuse him of acting “entitled”. I haven’t seen any self-entitled behavior from Mark to date. The bigger problem is that Mark has been attacked for a week over an innocuous tweet. As an aside, some of Mark’s music is pretty damned good. For example, I bought this single of Mark’s.

After some further discourse, the two seem to agree.

But, look who pops in as Mark and Kate are having a decent chat, makes a rather grand unsupported claim, and says that he wants to be left out of the conversation.

Then the butthurt begins… actually, Mark didn’t use any Twitter handles in his initial tweet, so people like you who state quite clearly that they don’t want to be part of such conversations wouldn’t be “bothered”. And now you’re continuing the conversation? Hmm… strange way to support your desire to be left out of the discourse.

Then the usual hangers-on dive in since Mr. Loesch used the “I’ll put text before the @ symbol to make sure that everyone sees this conversation I didn’t wanna be part of” trick. This is not an exhaustive list of tweets. For example, @AblativMeatshld, harassed Mark with 35 tweets!

Gary is one to talk about splashing one’s mediocre music with patriotism. Listen to his music sometime for some hilarious irony. We’ll clown Gary and his rage on Fubar very soon.

A friend of Mark’s chimes in in response with an astute observation.

But Gary won’t have any dissenting opinions, especially about his music.

Gary, just a week ago you said others don’t need to support you. But you didn’t really mean that did you?

And things get nastier as the other Breitbaren’ts join in. Here’s where Mandy Nagy’s (@liberty_chick) boyfriend, Scott Jacobs (@AblativMeatshld mentioned above)  You’ll remember him, he’s the one who told everyone at RedState to “Go fuck yourselves!” because they didn’t agree with his very radical leftist perspective on homosexuality. Or maybe he was trying to say that Mandy is a dude or that he’s a girl? Let’s hope not.

Mark’s friend, Diane, with more spot-on insight.

Yeah, Mark, what do you have against Gary Eaton? The Breitbaren’ts expect you to take it laying down when someone calls your songs “selfish” (whatever that bit of lunacy means – a selfish song?! lmao! mmmk) and “dull”. Stop being an idiot, Mark, these people with no real musical cred are trying to instruct you in the error of your ways regarding music. Wise up, Mark! /sarcasm

And finally, Mandy attacks Mark but lets all these other Breitbaren’ts who’ve had a history of attacking conservatives off the hook.

Remember the tweet that started all this. These Breitbaren’ts don’t have much of a problem treating people like shit over the smallest things do they? Did that many people need to attack Mark over this tweet?

Keep it up, Breitbaren’ts – you do your namesake proud.

Nice swarming – thanks for the post, Brooks. If I didn’t know these people claim to be “right”, I’d think it came from a bunch of bitchy leftists.

    • http://brooksbayne.com brooksbayne

Unfortunately, I think some of them still are bitchy leftists. Everyone who attacked Mark is a “former” leftist or socially liberal “libertarian”.

Every time I read something from the Trenches it seems to confirm what I think I’m just “imagining” about certain conservatives who hold themselves in high regard by claiming to be “Breitbart” yet clearly relish in attacking other conservatives. From what I’ve witnessed on Twitter, none of them are Andrew Breitbart… their egos are all just trying to ride his coattails to the spotlight. Shameful.

    • http://brooksbayne.com brooksbayne

Mark did nothing to warrant that sort of a response. Neither did Greg W. Howard, and they’ve been attacking him too. Hell, The Trenches even got attacked just for mentioning that we were going to report part of the story that was never reported regarding Andrew’s last night. Some of the people in that circle either need to go back to the left or figure out what it means to be “conservative” and shape the hell up. These attacks against people on our side are becoming commonplace for them.

Most conservatives are genuinely nice people who are on Twitter to stay informed, network, and express their opinions. Apparently some quasi-celebrity-wannabe “conservatives” are far more concerned with being self-important. They’re actually rude jerks. We don’t have time for this kind of idiotic, sophomoric, narcissistic drama.

    • http://brooksbayne.com brooksbayne

Most of these people don’t share our founders’ principles. That’s obvious by what they write and what/whom they support.

  • http://twitter.com/umb103 George Stanley

That was totally unnecessary. Egos have no place in the battle against the Left…

Well, there was one good outcome – I found out about Mark and I downloaded his music.

    • http://brooksbayne.com brooksbayne

Outstanding! I’m sure @Mark_Scudder appreciates it.

    • http://twitter.com/kimvy Kim Roy

I’ll have to do the same. Never heard of the chap either. The thing is, this discussion – supporting conservative artists, whether it be filmmakers, musicians, etc – comes up fairly regularly on Big Hollywood (at least it used to before AB died) and there were sane discussions about it.

It’s really sad and shows what type of people have filled AB’s very large loss that someone starts or asks one of the questions of a BH discussion and gets swarmed and abused for it from AB coattail riders.

But that’s what a lot of it still is – egos and attention whores (bet you think this comment is about you, don’t you, don’t you). It negates the hard work of a lot of the good people still at the Bigs.

      • http://brooksbayne.com brooksbayne

I agree. Big Hollywood was the only reason I ever visited the website at one time. And there are still some fine folks working/writing at Breitbart.com.

what in the hell is going on in here? where’s the music? I want to hear it. I’ll give you an honest opinion.

It’s linked in the 2nd paragraph.

I’m quite glad you wrote this post, as before I had never heard of Mark or his terrific music. Now I have. Fan of both the man and his tunes.

    • http://brooksbayne.com brooksbayne

yeah, it’s a shame that he made the mistake of reaching out to that crew first. imagine if mark would’ve recoiled from the drama thinking that all “conservatives” on twitter were like that.
